Thanks for posting! I started making dataquest 3 months ago because I wanted an easier way for people to get into data science. I'm self-taught, and it can be painful to learn all of the concepts needed.

I chose to teach Python because it's much easier to learn than R (I learned a lot of coding with R, and it can be tough), and it's increasingly used in production data science work.

There isn't a lot of advanced content up yet, but I'm working on it now. If you have questions, feel free to post here or send me an email at [email protected].

Nothing much to add to the discussion here other than: Thank you for using Python to teach data science!

Lessons really should progress from stats 101 onwards.

A lot of data science just turns into data munging (90% of my workflow doesn't have to do much with stats, it's more of preparation, manipulation, etc). I also wanted this to be accessible to beginners. More advanced stuff is coming!

Personally it really annoys me that all these 'data science' courses do not have any more stats than stats101, even a bayesian101 would be better

On that note if anyone knows of a great place for Bayesian 101, this would be a fantastic time to mention it

Think Bayes

Bayesian Methods for Hackers

http://www.stat.columbia.edu/~gelman/book/ is the classic

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1813623/Statistical%20In... is a new stats101 book written with a Bayesian flair

I'm working on it -- I've spent the past three months mainly building up the platform. I definitely want more advanced content.

Good to hear, I'll keep my eyes out!

i.e. do you have a mailing list?

I am a developer interested in data mining and I would love to contribute to this project/startup of yours. Let me know if that thought interests you.
